Multiple Intentions Multiply Your Results

The most common question I get asked in regards to the Law of Attraction and setting intentions is whether it is better to set a single intention and focus on it, or to set multiple intentions. This article will give you the answer, and explain why.

The short and simple answer is this: It is, by far, better to set multiple intentions at the same time when using the Law of Attraction! I have tested this with personal experience. Let me explain why I think it works this way and a few things to watch out for.

Firstly, let me explain what I do. Ever since the first time I went through the Tony Robbins – Time of Your Life multimedia seminar, I’ve always been fond of top down life planning and splitting your life into multiple categories. I go through this in detail in my Ultimate Goal Setting Made Easy article, but basically I have my life split into different categories such as these:

1) Health and Fitness
2) Wealth and Finances
3) Family and Relationships
4) Fun and Relaxation
5) Career and Contribution
6) Personal Growth and Spirituality

So what I actually do is I set at least one intention per category, but in most cases it’s a lot more than just one. So, I might have one or more intentions for my health and fitness category, one or more for my fun and relaxation category etc. From my personal experience, setting multiple intentions improves your ability to attract using the Law of Attraction. For example, if I have 5-10 intentions per category I’ll actually have anywhere from 30 to 60 intentions at one time.

Let me explain how they interplay. One of my intentions right now is to build up my blog. Another intention has been to get a Nintendo Wii. It’s not that I can’t afford the price for one but they are still impossible to get from the stores here locally, and I don’t want to overpay for one on eBay. I want a Wii, but it’s not like a life and death situation, I just want one eventually. I wouldn’t consider it a strong intention, but I have made the decision to get a Wii.

Anyway, here’s what I do. I go through my day to day with my 30-60 intentions (or more) and I’m always aware of what’s going on around me. I look for co-incidences, and little ‘winks’ from the universe to point me in the right direction. I take inspired action without judging where it will get me.

So, for example a while ago I was cleaning out my room and I found my old XBOX console. I decided to take it into EB Games and get it traded in for store credit for when the Wii’s become available. Since then, whenever I’m at the mall, I’ll pop by and check to see if they have any in stock. So far they haven’t had any. Basically, my intention to get a Wii is just in the background, always present, but I don’t “focus” on it.

Then, out of the blue, yesterday one of the suppliers that my brother orders computer parts from got a shipment of 50 Wii’s and was offering them to his customers. So I called him up and out of the 50 he got in, he had 3 left so I ordered one. Success!

Did I get it from EB Games? No. Then what was the point of trading in my XBOX for credit? That’s simple: (1) To tell the universe I’m willing to take inspired action towards my intention, signifying to it that I am serious about it even if I’m not attached to the outcome of getting it RIGHT NOW, and (2) so that I can now get the games and accessories from them! See I didn’t limit myself to only one path. I wouldn’t have ever thought to ask my brother’s computer parts suppliers if they can get a Wii, because that’s not something they normally sell; at least I didn’t know they did. Instead I just allow it to flow to me.

Meanwhile, however, while I wait for the universe to lineup the perfect circumstances to get me my Nintendo Wii, I work on my other goals/intentions! I think where a lot of people go wrong is they set one intention and then when they don’t get what they want immediately they get frustrated and that pushes their intentions ever further away. See, having 30 or 60 or more intentions at the same time means that on any given day I feel flowing progress towards at least a few of them, which fills me with a sense of gratitude and further fuels my energy to attract more things!

Some things I want quicker and with more energy than others, but even when I attract the little things it fuels my belief in the Law of Attraction which further fuels the big things to come quicker! Furthermore, because I attract something every day it’s so much easier to stay in the flow and so much easier to feel grateful.

Here’s another example. Today I got a private message from a person asking me questions on the Law of Attraction. I answered and used my Nintendo Wii example to illustrate how LoA works. Then later on today I was thinking “Hmmm… I need to find a topic to write an article on.” and so I set an intention to attract that. A few minutes later I checked my private messages and there was a message from the same person and at the end of the reply he wrote “One last question. Do you think it’s best to focus on one intention at a time, or is having more than one okay?”

Guess what? That’s my article topic to write about! Perfect. See how the Nintendo Wii intention helps me with my other intention to build up my blog? If nothing else, it provides an example I can use in this article! Cool eh? Most of my intentions interplay in a much more orchestrated and interconnected way, but it’s kind of hard to explain it. It’s something you have to experience yourself. Don’t be surprised if your intention to attract a trip to Los Vegas, somehow also interplays with your intention to let’s say meet the love of your dreams. It amazes me sometimes how one intention interconnects and helps another in really weird ways you’d never consider.

There are some things to look out for, however when doing this. Be careful not to set mulitple versions of the same intentions that interfere with themselves.  For example, let’s say that I want to lose 30lbs of fat off my body this year, but I also want to lose 5lbs by next Friday. These are essentially the same intention except that one is a larger quantity than the other (30lbs vs 5lbs). I try not to do this. I decide whether I want to lose 5lbs or 30lbs, not both.  If I have a specific deadline for the 5lbs loss I use that one as my intention and completely eliminate the 30lbs one from my mind, until the 5lbs one is reached and THEN I bring back the 30lbs one.   That way I’m only focusing on one version of the same intention at one time.

For some reason, setting multiple versions of the same intention with different quantities seems to conflict. I’ve known people to set income goals like this as well and have a hard time attracting them. One day they’re saying they want to make $30k this year, then next day it’s $50k, then it’s $5k in the next month, then it’s $100k this year, then $500 in the next week, and they’re just all over the place. Don’t do this. PICK ONE and stick to it, until it’s achieved and only then pick another one. If you want to change it, replace the old one with the new one. One thing that I find useful is to write out my intentions in my journal. That way I can keep track of them over time and see just how often I change my mind.

So, from my experience I have found that setting multiple intentions such as one to lose 30lbs of fat, gain 10lbs of muscle, get a Nintendo Wii, increase my blog traffic by XX % etc. does NOT cause conflicts, and in fact I have found it to actually help significantly to attract things!

It is much easier for the universe to arrange 1 out of 60 intentions in one part of your life to come to you on any given day as you’re out living your day to day life then it would be if you only had 1 thing. Besides, I don’t even understand how a person can live just trying to focus on one intention!? Like if someone sets an intention to just become a millionaire and nothing else, the rest of his life suffers! His spouse and kids get neglected, his health starts to deteriorate, his fun and enjoyment of life go down the tubes etc. while he tries to FORCE the million to come to him.

My path has been to go for attracting $$, and health and fun, and growth, and spiritual development, and a Nintendo Wii and a whole bunch of other things at the same time. Then, each day I get to experience the wonderful surprise of which things the universe brings me that day.  It brings back a bit of fun and surprise to a life that uses the Law of Attraction!

I hope this answers the question for everyone as far as whether it’s better to set a single intention or multiple intentions. The Law of Attraction is one of my favorite Self Help topics to write about so if anyone else has questions about it, don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll do my best to offer my help.

Enjoy!

Paul

  1. Paul,

I have enjoyed your blog very much and especially this article. The idea of multiple intentions really resonates with me and I definately think your on to a winner…you don’t need me to tell you that I know! Also i’ve noticed I tend to have contradictory intentions, I hadn’t even realised until I read this post.

I’d love to hear how you actually set your intentions and send them out to the universe. What is your techniqe? Will you be doing a blog on this topic? Sorry if you already have…i’m afraid I only found you today and haven’t managed to read all your posts as yet!

    Many thanks

    Dianne :-)

  3. Paul,

I feel a bit silly now because I actually passed through the “goal setting” post yesterday, at speed and with blogfested eyes though I must confess….I kind of assumed it was a business style goal setting and not ANY kind of goal setting which included making a vision/intention/LOA dream for the future. All one and the same at the end of the day hey?

Well thanks Paul, i’ve read it now completely and in detail, i’ve printed it off too. There are some excellent suggestions there and i’m looking forward to getting started.

I have decided to create a vision board and or create my own vision statement with photo story as suggested on another fab blog by Mark McManus http://www.buildyourlifetoorder.com/how-to-create-a-vision-statement-law-of-attraction-accelerator/

Do you think vision statements are a good idea or do they make you too clingy to the intention? I’m be interested in your take on it.

    Thanks

    Dianne

  5. Hi Paul

    Enlightening message.
Enjoyed reading your blogs so far.
I’ve also came across a FREE report that mentioned that Creative Visualization is the KEY link that will turbo-charge the Law of Attraction. What are your thoughts on that

  6. Hi Paul

When you mentioned that from “my experience I have found that setting multiple intentions …. actually help significantly to attract things!”, do you set it via visualization? If not, then how do you go about? Or do you write it down in words?

I’m just started practising Law Of Attraction and would like to know how best to go about to get the most results..

I’ve just read a report of an interview with Bob Proctor that talks about Law Of Attractions. In the report, it mentioned that Creative Visualization is the KEY to turbo-charge (i.e. accelerate) the Law Of Attractions.

Is Creative Visualization the same as Intention? If not, what’s the difference?

  7. Hi Paul,

Multiple intentions multiply your results can be true as we call this “Multiple Sources of Income”. But of course the person must be hard working, dedicated, determined, and have a VISION. Multiple directions also mean multiple obstacles and such obstacles can really wear a person down. Besides, lack of focus and a little bit everywhere can lead to no where. So I suggest practicing LAW-of-ATTRACTION being the success system that never fail. Thaink of what you want, focus on what you really want, and let the mind lead you there. If to achieve what you want takes multiple directions, so be it, and with guidance from LAW-of-ATTRACTION the chances of SUCCESS is much higher.

    Good Luck & Success.

  9. Hi Chester,

I am agreed with your multiple intensions that multiply your results; I just want to add that you should think straight as the Law of Attraction guides us. I have a full confidence on Law of Attraction I have seen a web site on Law of Attraction and I recommend you people to visit there and enhance your knowledge from there, they have an audio series also which will definitely help you out to understand it.

Now I want to share some Quotes from the secret movie.

    1. We all work with one infinite power.

    2. The Secret is the Law of Attraction (LOA).

    3. Whatever is going on in your mind is what you are attracting.

    4. We are like magnets - like attract like. You become AND attract what you think.

    5. Every thought has a frequency. Thoughts send out a magnetic energy.

I will come back with some more quotes soon.

    Thanks and Regards

  10. Hi Paul
I love this blog. Intentions have power interconnected within them. there is attraction when you focus on multiple intentions whilst generating the emotions associated to them. It is amazing what can be possible when you redirect your focus, your trend of thought to what you want instead of what you fear and dislike. I believe many people will benefit from this knowledge and i thank you for sharing it with the public. i have been involved in personal development for many years now, and i can see what an impact intention has on peoples lives. I love to share with you my own personal experiences in my personal blog over here I am so grateful that you have given people the opportunity to create extraordinary lives.

    best regards
